NEWBERG, Ore. – Four different softball camps for athletes of various ages and skills levels will be hosted by George Fox University on Wednesday-Friday, August 10-12, under the supervision of Bruins’ head coach Jessica Hollen along with her assistant coaches and several of her team’s players.

Wednesday’s camp is for players 10-and-under, while Thursday’s camp is for players ages 10-18.  Both run from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and cost $50 per camper.  Each will provide both offensive and defensive stations, with particular emphasis on Thursday on individual defense for catchers, infielders and outfielders.

There will be two pitching camps on Friday, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon for ages 12-and-under, and from 1:00-4:00 p.m. for ages 13-18.  The cost for each Friday session is $40 per camper.  The morning camp will focus on pitching basics and mechanics as well as drills.  The afternoon session will focus on advanced pitching skills, drills, and pitching workout information.

Players may sign up for as many of the age-appropriate camps as they wish to attend.  The registration deadline is Wednesday, August 3, and all players who register by then will receive a camp T-shirt.

Each athlete should bring her own bats, gloves, helmet, and catching gear.  Players should wear athletic shorts or sweats / softball pants (no jeans), T-shirts, and bring both tennis shoes and cleats, as sessions will be conducted on the Morse Athletic Complex softball field and in the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.
