NEWBERG, Ore. - Separate George Fox University summer volleyball camps, for players in grades 6-8 in the morning and for grades 9-12 in the afternoon, have been announced by Bruins’ head volleyball coach Steve Grant for Monday-Thursday, July 30-August 2, 2012, here at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.

The morning camp for 6th-8th graders is set for 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, with the purpose of providing quality instruction in all the physical and mental fundamentals of the game: serving, receiving and passing, back and front row attacking, defensive principles, court awareness, mental toughness, goal setting, and learning to be a coachable player.

The afternoon camp for 9th-12th graders will run from 1:30-5:00 p.m., and will focus primarily on hitters and setters.  Quality instruction will be given in the fundamentals of attacking - approach, timing, shot selection and jump training - and setting - footwork, release development, decision making and floor leadership.

The Bruin Volleyball Camps are under the direction of Coach Grant, who has led the George Fox program to 477 wins in 30 years.  He has been named Coach of the Year in both the Cascade Conference and the Northwest Conference, and was twice the National Christian College Athletic Association’s National Coach of the Year.  Assisting him in the camp will be George Fox assistant coaches Dustin Walker and Ali Toedtemeier, along with current members of the Bruins’ volleyball team.

The cost for the 6-8 camp is $80.00 for each camper, or $60.00 each for multiple campers from the same family.  The cost for the 9-12 camp is $90.00 per camper.  A camp T-shirt for each participant is included in the cost; please be sure to mark the appropriate size on the registration form.

Checks should be made out to “Bruin Volleyball Camp” and returned along with the registration form by July 25 to Steve Grant at George Fox University, 414 N. Meridian St., Newbeg, OR 97132.  Information and registration forms may be accessed on line at http://athletics.georgefox.edu/camps/index.
