Nomination Information and Forms
The George Fox University Hall of Fame began with the induction of its first class in 1996. It was founded to honor those persons who have made outstanding athletic contributions to the university and was created for the purpose of perpetuating the memory of those persons who have brought distinction, honor and excellence to the George Fox athletic programs.
A selection committee meets annually to evaluate nominations, and those nominees who receive a 75 percent favorable vote are elected. Currently, the George Fox Hall of Fame has inducted the following:
- 65 athletes
- 15 coaches
- 17 for meritorious service
- 15 teams
- 375 total individuals (athletes, teams, coaches and meritorious)

2011 Induction Ceremony
For the first time in its history, the university hosted a fall Hall of Fame induction ceremony when three athletes, one coach, one team and one meritorious service honoree were inducted as its 16th class in ceremonies Saturday, Oct. 1.
The class of 2011 included:
- Women’s basketball coach Scott Rueck (1996-2010)
- Karli Holub Harshman (women’s soccer, 1998-2000)
- Sharon (Barnett) McPherson (volleyball, women’s track and field, 1996-2000)
- Katie (Greller) Lacey (women’s basketball, 1997-2001)
- 2000-01 women’s basketball team
- Larry Gibson (meritorious service)
2011 Inductee Bios
Scott Rueck: The 2008-09 National Coach of the Year for
leading the Bruins to a 32-0 record and a NCAA Division III
national championship, Rueck is the Bruins’ winningest coach
in women’s basketball history with a 288-88 record (.766) in
14 seasons, all winning ones. The Bruins made nine postseason
appearances in his 14 years, reaching the NCAA “Sweet
16” five times, “Elite 8” three times, and Final
Four in ’09.
Karli Holub Harshman: In only three seasons, Harshman
rewrote the George Fox women’s soccer record book while
becoming the all-time leading scorer in Bruin history. She
established school records for career points (102), goals scored
(42), and assists (18), and set single-season records for points
(37) and goals (15) in 1998 while tying the record for assists (9)
in 2000.
Sharon (Barnett) McPherson: An All-American in two
sports, McPherson holds numerous George Fox records in both
volleyball and track and field. In volleyball, she holds George Fox
career records for kills (1,449) and digs (1,641), season records
for kills (517 in 1998) and digs (631), and single-game records for
kills (32) and digs (52) in one match. In track, she was an NAIA
All-American in 1997 with a second-place finish in the 100-meter
hurdles.
Katie (Greller) Lacey: Lacey led the Bruins to an 80-23
record and four postseason appearances as the women’s
basketball starting center (1997-2001). She was a Kodak First Team
All-American and D3hoops Second Team All-American in 2001, and
Northwest Conference Player of the Year in 2000 and 2001.
2000-01 Women’s Basketball Team: The first George
Fox team to achieve a No. 1 national ranking in the NCAA, the
2000-01 women’s basketball team went 23-3, setting a record
for best won-lost percentage of .885. George Fox replaced
Washington-St. Louis as the top team for the first time in four
years and stayed there for two weeks before finishing with a No. 11
national ranking.
Larry Gibson: Gibson, a 1970 graduate of George Fox, has
been a life-long wrestling coach who received the Medal of Courage
from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in Stillwater,
Okla., in ceremonies Sept. 5-6, 2009. A club coach since 1972, he
was voted Washington’s Coach of the Year in 1991. He was
inducted into the Washington State Chapter of the NWHOF in 1995 and
received his USA Wrestling Gold Level Coaches Certificate in
1997.
