NEWBERG, Ore. – George Fox University baseball coach Marty Hunter has announced plans for the Third Annual Bruin Alumni Baseball Game to be held on Sunday, May 1, at Morse Field on the Newberg campus as a part of the university’s Graduation Weekend.
“We’ve had a lot of fun with the alumni game the last two years, and we think this is becoming a great Bruin tradition,” said Hunter. “This is a time for our former players to recall some of their old skills and to relive some of their past glories. We are also adding a barbeque to enjoy after the game.”
The festivities will begin with batting practice on the field at 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed by a game at 12:00 noon pitting Alumni vs. Alumni based on graduation years, Evens vs. Odds. The barbeque will follow the game, whose length will depend on the number of participants.
Former players who wish to partake of the day’s events are asked to fill out a participation form and indicate the number of family members expected to enjoy the barbeque so the organizers can plan accordingly. The participation form may be found on line at the George Fox baseball web site at http://athletics.georgefox.edu/sports/bsb/2010-11/files/alumniform2011.doc.
