Bruin Brigade

We need your help!

The first football game is on September 6 and it will take an army of volunteers, the Bruin Brigade, to ensure that all the logistics for this first game and the season are handled in an organized and efficient way. We need your help to make this happen! Check out the positions below that we need to fill as we gear up for the first football season at George Fox University in 45 years.


Parking Directors

Description: We’re expecting thousands of people at each football game this fall, which means there could be thousands of cars driving into Newberg every game day. We need help directing people to parking lots and tailgate areas in order to keep traffic flow down Highway 99W moving quickly.

Your job: Your team will be stationed along Highway 99W and around the George Fox campus with signs that will direct cars toward the school’s parking lots, tailgate areas, handicap parking and overflow lots.

Arrival time: Two hours before kickoff

End time: At kickoff

Security

Description: With all of the fans that will be attending each football game, the Newberg Police Department will need help in securing the stadium. We need help on campus to make sure everyone is having fun in a friendly and secure environment.

Your job: Your team will be in charge of crowd control, checking bags as people enter the stadium and ensuring a safe game-day experience for all.

Arrival time: Two hours before kickoff

End time: 30 minutes after the game

Information Volunteers

Description: There will be many people at our football games who haven’t been to the George Fox campus before. They will need direction toward all the major hot spots including bathrooms, ticketing, parking, food vendors, etc.

Your job: It will be your job to offer help and direct people toward any area they are looking for. You will also need to be knowledgeable about the events occurring throughout game day, including tailgates, on-campus food options and the football game.

Arrival time: Two hours before kickoff

End time: 30 minutes after the game

Ticket Vendors

Description: There will be thousands of fans at the games this fall, and we need all the help we can get with ticket sales. We need people to be in charge of selling and checking tickets and getting our fans into the stadium quickly and efficiently.

Your job: You will be accepting tickets from patrons, as well as selling tickets to individuals who are purchasing them on game day. You will also have to monitor the students and faculty who will be swiping their cards to get into the games.

Arrival time: Two and a half hours before kickoff

End time: Halftime

Food Vendors

Description: We all know that football wouldn’t be what it is without game-day food. We’re going to have food both on campus during tailgating (before games) as well as food and beverages near the stadium to provide snacks during games.

Your job: If you have a food cart or would like to cater during game day, we’d love to hear from you. Your job will be to provide food and a pleasant experience to all of our game-day patrons.

Arrival time: One hour before kickoff

End time: Beginning of the fourth quarter

Game-Time Volunteers

Description: With all of the intense and exciting plays going on during the game, we’ll need volunteers to keep the game flowing as smoothly as possible for the players and fans. This means we need a team of volunteers, including statisticians tracking the game, people who can update the scoreboard, and ball boys/girls to make sure the refs have what they need.

Your job: You will be part of the team that keeps the stats, handles public announcements (PA), updates the scoreboard, serves as ball boys/girls, etc. If you have experience in any of these fields, we’d love your help.

Arrival time: 45 minutes before kickoff

End time: 15 minutes after the game

Leadership and Planning Team

Description: With all of the volunteers we’ll have providing great help to our fans, we’ll need people to help coordinate the volunteers! We need leaders who are able to plan well and manage others in order to create the most efficient team possible.

Your job: Your team will coordinate all of the other volunteers. If they have questions about where they need to be or what time they need to be there, you will help in directing them. It will be your job to make sure the volunteer system runs smoothly and that all the fans are being helped quickly and efficiently.

Arrival time: Two and a half hours before kickoff

End time: 30 minutes after the end of the game

Entertainment Volunteers

Description: Though we all know we’re there to watch football, it can’t be denied that other entertainment is required to make the games as successful as possible. We need volunteers to coordinate the entertainment outside of the actual games.

Your job: It will be your job to coordinate the entertainment that goes on around the game. This means lining up halftime events and national anthem singers, providing activities for kids, getting bands for the tailgate, etc. It will be your job to make sure all of the events around the game are exciting and run smoothly.

Arrival time: Half an hour before the tailgate

End time: After the last event you coordinated

Cinema/Media Volunteers

Description: Are you a cinema and media communication major or minor looking for extra experience? We’re calling any and all videographers from George Fox to help us run the cameras for the football games. This will give you great experience to put on your resume, as well as give you the opportunity to work with professional producers.

Your job: You will be manning cameras in cooperation with the producers in order to capture in-game moments and provide live playback footage of the game.

Arrival time: 60 minutes before kickoff

End time: 30 minutes after the game

Clean-Up Crew

Description: Although not the most glamorous job, it is one of the most vital. We need volunteers to stick around after the game and help pick up after the fans. Your help ensures our campus and stadium will stay beautiful!

Your job: You will be walking through the stands, parking lots, etc. in search of trash and things left behind by fans or vendors.

Arrival time: Ten minutes before the end of the game

End time: As soon as everything is picked up
