* Bruin Coaches in “Suits and Sneakers” Cancer Awareness Weekend

George Fox men’s basketball coaches Mark Sundquist and Brad Crosby will be participating in the 2009 “Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers” cancer awareness weekend during the Bruins’ home games Jan. 30-31 vs. Whitworth and Whitman.  “Suits and Sneakers” is a national Coaches vs. Cancer event, sponsored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society, that is designed to raise awareness about the fight against cancer by encouraging member coaches and their coaching staffs to wear sneakers with their suits at games during the weekend of Jan. 30-Feb. 1. By wearing sneakers, participating coaches help raise awareness about cancer and the importance that nutrition and physical activity play in reducing one's risk of the disease. Additionally, this weekend helps promote the American Cancer Society as a place for people facing cancer to turn for free information, day-to-day help, and emotional support.  Visiting coaches Jim Hayford of Whitworth and Eric Bridgeland of Whitman are also expected to participate in the program.
