NEWBERG, Ore. - Hitting the road for the first time this season, the George Fox University Bruins (1-1) will play three games this Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 3-5, in the 62nd Annual Lee Fulmer Men's Basketball Tournament hosted by the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif.
The Bruins' first game comes Thursday against the Menlo College Oaks (2-3) at 5:30 p.m. Also in the George Fox bracket are the host Redlands Bulldogs (1-3), who will take on the West Coast Baptist College Eagles (2-4) at 7:30 p.m. The opposite bracket will pit the Willamette University Bearcats (1-3) vs. the California Lutheran University Kingsmen (0-1) at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Chapman University Panthers (4-0) vs. the University of California-Santa Cruz Banana Slugs (1-4) at 3:30 p.m.
Tip-off times for Friday's second round games and Saturday's 7th-, 5th-, 3rd-, and 1st-place games are also at 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Three-day tournament passes are $10, while single game prices are $5 for adults, and $2 for seniors 55 and up and non-Redlands students with a school ID. There will be no internet webcast by KFOX Radio or video streaming by StretchInternet of the George Fox games in the tournament, but Redlands will provide LiveStats for all tournament games. The Bruins' first-round opponent, Menlo, has already met two Northwest Conference team this season and defeated them both on the road: 95-72 at Willamette and 75-68 at Pacific. The Oaks, who are members of the NAIA and California Pacific Conference, are led by guards Julian Harris (17.8 ppg) and Tim Kees (11.8 ppg), who have each earned a Cal Pac Player of the Week award already this season.
Following the tournament, the Bruins remain on the road but play closer to home as they visit Corban College on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. KFOX Radio will provide internet audio webcasting of the game at Corban. George Fox has not played since posting its first win of the season with a 99-91 victory over Corban on Nov. 24 in Newberg. The Bruins trailed by 13 in the first half and 12 in the second half before rallying to defeat the Warriors behind Alex Stockner's 25 points, 18 in the second half. Evan Atwater added 19 points, Stephen Wiseley had 16 points, seven assists, and five steals, and Rich Smith scored 14. The Bruins shot .550 from the field in the game, including .607 (17-28) in the second half.

Scoring 14 points in a six-minute span in the second half, Alex Stockner sparked George Fox to a come-from-behind win in the Bruins' only game of the week to earn Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete of the Week and honorable mention for Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 23-29.
With the Bruins down by nine at home to Corban on Nov. 24, Stockner started his outburst with a layup at the 16:19 mark to cut the Warriors' lead to 55-48. Over the next 5:33, he scored 12 more points as the Bruins trimmed the deficit to three at 71-68, and that momentum carried them eventually to a 99-91 win, their first of the season. Stockner finished with a game-high 25 points, 18 in the second half, on 8-11 field goals (2-2 on threes) and 7-10 free throws, with four rebounds and two assists.
Stockner, a senior forward from Monmouth, Ore., currently leads the Northwest Conference in field goal pct. (.722) and 3-pt field goal pct. (1.000) while ranking 3rd in scoring (20.5) and 10th in free throw pct. (.813). He was an All-NWC honorable mention selection last year after transferring to George Fox from Western Oregon, and won the BAA weekly award six times while receiving honorable mention for NWC Student-Athlete of the Week seven times.
