NEWBERG, Ore. - For their final two games of the season before Northwest Conference play begins, the George Fox University Bruins (3-4) will travel to the Midwest after Christmas to take on NCAA Division III Augsburg College (4-2) and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (4-6) on Monday-Tuesday, Dec. 28-29.

Monday's game against the Augsburg Auggies tips off at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time (1:00 p.m. Central).  On Tuesday, the game against the UW-River Falls Falcons begins at 5:00 p.m. Pacific time (7:00 p.m. Central).  It will be the first time the Bruins have ever played either team.

Augsburg opened the season with four straight wins, including an 84-75 win over River Falls, before dropping their last two.  The Auggies will play Sacred Heart University in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Dec. 19 before meeting the Bruins.  All five Augsburg starters average double figures in points: G David Olson (14.8), G Ben Flavin (13.3), G Jon Cassens (11.5), F Brett Sorenson (10.0), and P Andy Grzesiak-Grimm (10.0).  Sorenson is the top rebounder (6.5), and Cassens is the assists leader (5.3).  The Auggies average 77.7 ppg while allowing 72.5, and make 8.5 three-pointers per game (the Bruins average 8.0 threes, so a long-range shootout might be expected).

River Falls snapped a six-game losing streak with wins in its last two outings over Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Northwestern (Minn.).  The Falcons play at St. Scholastica on Dec. 20 before hosting the Bruins.  G Jontae Koonkaew leads the Falcons in scoring (15.3), while F Jake Voeltz (13.2) and C Wade Guerin (12.2) also score in double figures.  Guerin is the top rebounder (8.2), and Koonkaew is the assists leader (4.5).  The Falcons average 74.4 ppg while allowing 72.8.

There will be no George Fox webcast by KFOX radio for either game.  The link for Augsburg's live stats is http://www.augsburg.edu/athletics/livestats/xlive.htm  and for live video streaming is http://athletics.augsburg.edu/sports/2009/3/17/webcasts.aspx?id=76.
