MGF: NWC FALL CLASSIC - Bruins Stand in 6th Place after First Day of Spring Classic

NWC Spring Classic Results - Day 1

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - Mike Ulstad shot a 76 and Kyle Wilson was one stroke behind at 77, leading the George Fox University Bruins to a first-day team score of 320 and a sixth-place standing after the first day’s action in the Northwest Conference Men’s Golf Spring Classic Saturday here at The Links at Moses Pointe Golf Course.

Host Whitworth University leads the field with a 5-over-par 293 on the par 72, 6,965-yard course.  Seven strokes back is the University of Puget Sound at 300, followed by Linfield College at 305, Pacific University at 308, Whitman College at 313, George Fox, Pacific Lutheran University at 328, Willamette University at 329, and Lewis & Clark College at 358.

Ulstad is tied for 11th in the individual standings, while Wilson is in deadlock for 13th.  Also counting for the Bruins Saturday were Kelton Johnson, tied for 35th at 83, and Matthew Fanning and Aleks Gabrio, tied for 38th at 84.

Tyler Nelson of Linfield is atop the leader board with a 4-under-par 68, one stroke ahead of Cameron Whittle of Whitworth with a 69. 

The NWC Spring Classic, whoch concludes Sunday,counts as one quarter of the total score in determining the conference champion, with the NWC Fall Classic also counting as a quarter and the NWC Championship coming up Apr. 24-25 as one half.
