MGF: PACIFIC INVITATIONAL: Bruins and Ulstad Both 3rd on Day One of Pacific Invite
BANKS, Ore. - Mike Ulstad of George Fox University shot a 3-over-par 75 and stood just two strokes off the pace in third place, while the Bruins as a team also stood in third, after the first day of play in the Pacific University Invitational men's golf tournament Saturday afternoon here at the Quail Valley Golf Course.
Host Pacific held a 10-stroke lead with a four-player score of 308, followed by Northwest Christian University with a 318, George Fox at 321, and Willamette University at 331.
Ulstad trailed only Justin Ahrens of Northwest Christian, who shot a 73 on the par-72, 6,318-yard course, and Max Bonk of Pacific with a 74. Also counting for the Bruins on Saturday were Kyle Wilson with a 78, tied for sixth, and Chris Lumdsen and Austin Rowland, tied for 15th with 84's. Kelton Johnson carded an 89 and stood 20th, while Matt Fanning was 22nd with a 95.
The tournament concludes Sunday, with tee time set for 12:00 noon.
