PACIFIC SPRING INVITATIONAL: Bruins in 5th after First Day of Pacific Tournament
NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – Kyle Wilson shot a three-over-par 74 to tie for sixth place and lead the George Fox University Bruins, who are fifth out of six teams after the first day of play in the Pacific University Spring Invitational men’s golf tournament Saturday here at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course’s Ghost Creek course.
The Bruins tallied a four-player score of 341 on the par-71, 6,451-yard course. The University of Puget Sound and Whitworth University are knotted at the top, each at 301, with host Pacific just two shots off the pace at 303. Linfield College stands fourth with a 313, followed by George Fox, then Willamette University at 348. Lewis & Clark College has two players entered but no team score.
After Wilson, Mike Ulstad shot a 78 for the Bruins and is tied for 12th, Trevor Pielstick is 31st with an 86, and Joel Stude is 37th with a 103. Aleks Gabrio entered but did not finish the round.
Max Bonk of Pacific carded a five-under 66 to lead Matt Kitto of Puget Sound with a 69 by three strokes. Jesse Salzwedel of Whitworth is third at 72.
The Pacific Invitational concludes Sunday, with first tee times at 8:30 a.m.
