LUTES INVITATIONAL: Bruins Stand 6th after First Day of First Spring Event at PLU

Lutes Invitational - 1st round

DuPONT, Wash. – With a four-player team score of 327, the George Fox University Bruins stand sixth out of eight teams after Saturday’s opening round of the Lutes Invitational, the Bruins’ first match of the spring portion of their 2011-12 men’s golf season, hosted by Pacific Lutheran University here at The Home Course.

The Bruins trail first-place Linfield College, which shot a 12-over-par 300 on the par-72, 7,037-yard course, but 27 strokes.  In second is Whitworth University at 304, followed by North Idaho College at 310, PLU at 312, the University of Puget Sound at 322, George Fox, Willamette University at 329, and Pacific University at 348.

Mike Ulstad led the Bruins in the first round was an 8-over-par 80, tied for 16th on the leader board.  Other counting scores for the Bruins were 82’s by Aleks Gabrio and Kyle Wilson, tied for 22nd, and an 86 by Chris Lumsden, in 28th place.  Tyler Dyck rounded out the George Fox group with a 93, which is tied for 36th.
