PACIFIC INVITATIONAL: Bruins Stand 5th Out of 6 after Day One at Quail Valley
BANKS, Ore. – After the first day of play in the Pacific University Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament which began here Saturday at the Quail Valley Golf Course, the George Fox University Bruins stood fifth out of six teams, five of which are also Northwest Conference teams like the Bruins.
The Bruins shot a four-player score of 311, one shot ahead of Whitman College with a 312. Leading the tournament is Linfield College with a 283, two shots ahead of Willamette University at 285. Corban University, a member of the Cascade Collegiate Conference, stands third with a 293, followed by host Pacific at 297, George Fox, and Whitman.
Complete individual scores were unavailable Saturday night, but the top players included Ryan Kukula of Willamette with a six-under-par 66; Joey Duwe of Corban with a 67, A.J. Taylor of Linfield at 68, and the threesome of Roger Hults of Pacific, Will Ferguson of Willamette, and Alex Fitch of Linfield tied at 69.
The final round of the Pacific Invitational is set to tee off Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
