Lumsden Receives BAA Award for Oct. 3-9 after Play in Whitworth Invitational
NEWBERG, Ore. – After posting the best George Fox score in the Whitworth Invitational men’s golf tournament on Oct. 2-3 in Spokane, Wash., Chris Lumsden has named the Bruin Athletic Association Men’s Athlete of the Week for Oct. 3-9, the second Bruin golfer to be so honored this fall.
Lumsden shot a two-day score of 79-85=164 to tie for 41st on the par-72, 6,653-yard Spokane Country Club course. It was the fourth time in his career that he has been the Bruins’ top golfer in a tournament. As a team, the Bruins came in eighth out of nine teams in the event.
Lumsden joined Mike Ulstad for the week of Sept. 12-18 as Bruin men’s golfers who have received the BAA weekly award this year. The junior from Bonney Lake, Wash., also serves as a play-by-play announcer for George Fox volleyball, basketball, and baseball games as the sports director for campus radio and internet station KFOX.
The George Fox Athlete of the Week Award for both men and women is presented throughout the Bruin sports seasons by the Bruin Athletic Association, whose mission is to provide George Fox student-athletes with an outstanding athletic and academic experience and to strengthen the overall competitiveness of the Bruin athletics program.
