Bruins Finish Fifth At NWC Championship

TACOMA --- The George Fox men's golf team closed out the final round of the Northwest Conference Championship Sunday, as the Bruins placed fifth out of nine teams.

Recap:

The Bruins ended the two-day tournament with a 306-303=609. Pacific Lutheran won the tournament with a 581 team score, while Whitworth finished second with a 595 team score. Willamette finished third (596) and Linfield edged the Bruins with a 601 team score.

Alex Plusquellec had the best day for the Bruins, as the senior forced a playoff after 36 holes of play resulted in two players with a 143 score. Plusquellec dropped the playoff to Sam Hinton of Willamette, who made an 18-foot birdie putt to take medalist honors.

Plusquellec shot a 72-71=143 to take second. Mason Koch finished inside the top-10 with a 76-71=147 to place tied for sixth. Joshua Lackey finished T-27th with a 77-81=158, while Mason Mueller and Clayton Rajewich both finished T-36th.

Plusquellec earns his first All-NWC first-team selection after earning second-team last season. Mason Koch also earned All-NWC first-team. Plusquellec became the first Bruin in the program to earn NWC Player of the Year.

The Bruins finish the season fourth in the NWC standings marking their highest finish in the program's history.
