Altringer Earns BAA, Honorable Mention NWC Honors for Sept. 28-Oct. 4

NEWBERG, Ore. - As a key part of the Bruins' to 2-1 upset of 25th-ranked and Northwest Conference-leading Pacific Lutheran in men's soccer on Oct. 3, Brennan Altringer has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete of the Week for Sept. 28-Oct. 4. He also received honorable mention for NWC Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week. The sophomore from Beaverton, Ore., scored the first goal of the game two minutes in, then assisted on Brian Story's game-winning goal in the 23rd minute. He also took three shots, two on goal, as the Bruins dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker to Puget Sound on Oct. 4. He had five shots, three on goal, and three points for the week.
Altringer currently ranks second in the NWC in goals (5, T) and points (13, T), third in shots (30, T), and sixth in assists (3, T). He is the third men's soccer player to receive BAA honors this season, along with Jake Maguire (Aug. 29-Sept. 6) and Peter Luginbill (Sept. 7-13).
The Athlete of the Week Award for both men and women is presented throughout the Bruin sports seasons by the Bruin Athletic Association, whose mission is to provide George Fox student-athletes with an outstanding athletic and academic experience and to strengthen the overall competitiveness of the Bruin athletics program.
