MSOC: Maguire Named Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete for Oct. 5-11

After making four saves, including two spectacular stops in the first half, in a 3-0 loss at Pacific on Oct. 11, Jake Maguire has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete of the Week for Oct. 5-11.

In the 41st minute, the Boxers' Jasem Jaihouni rifled a shot that glanced off Maguire's hands, and then headed the rebound back towards the net, only to have Maguire make another great save.  The Bruin defense responded by allowing only five more shots and one corner kick the rest of the way in their only game of the week.

Maguire, a senior goalkeeper from Aurora, Ore., leads the Northwest Conference in saves per game (6.00) and is fourth in total saves (42).  This is his second time to earn BAA Athlete of the Week honors (also Aug. 29-Sept. 6).

The Athlete of the Week Award for both men and women is presented throughout the Bruin sports seasons by the Bruin Athletic Association, whose mission is to provide George Fox student-athletes with an outstanding athletic and academic experience and to strengthen the overall competitiveness of the Bruin athletics program.  For more information about the organization or to become a member, visit the Bruin Athletic Association website.
