Coming Up:

Sat., Nov. 6, 1:30 pm - at Pacific University, Forest Grove, Ore. (NWC)

The 2010 season comes to a close for the Bruins when they visit the Northwest Conference-leading Pacific Boxers, hoping to deal a blow to their opponent’s title dreams with a tremendous upset.  The Boxers are a prolific offensive team and the Bruins have struggled to score, having been shut out a record-tying 12 times this season (also in 2005) - but the game is played on the pitch, not on paper.  The Bruins will also be out to snap a 19-game winless streak (0-17-2) which has surpassed the previous record of 18 (0-14-4) from Sept. 15, 2007-Sept. 10, 2008.

Game time is 1:30 p.m. at Pacific’s Lincoln Park Stadium, following a Pacific women’s game at 11:00 a.m., because of a Boxers’ home football game at 7:00 p.m. that evening.

Multimedia:  Pacific will provide live stats at http://www.goboxers.com/live and a live video feed at http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/pacific for this Saturday’s game with George Fox.

Recent Results (0-2):

Sat., Oct. 30 - L 0-2 vs. Puget Sound

Despite out-shooting their opponent for only the second time all year, their first win of the season still eluded the Bruins as the Loggers snuck off with a 2-0 victory.  George Fox held a 17-14 advantage in shots, though UPS led 8-4 in shots on goal.  The Loggers’ first goal was an ‘own goal’.  Elliott Davis had four saves and Kasey Haugan two for the Bruins.

Sun., Oct. 31 - L 1-8 vs. Pacific Lutheran

The Lutes ruined the Bruins’ final home game of the season by exploding for six second-half goals to break open a relatively-tight game and walk off with an 8-1 win.  Elliott Davis had seven saves and Kasey Haugan two for the Bruins, and Joseph Tiede scored the first goal by a Bruin on their new field in the 88th minute with an assist from Isaac Widdicombe.  Prior to the game, graduating seniors Connor Campbell and David Rickey were recognized for their four-year careers as they were playing their final home game for the Bruins.

* Tiede Goes into Record Books as First Bruin to Score at New Austin Field

Joseph Tiede, a junior reserve midfielder from Anchorage, Alaska, will go into the George Fox record books as the first to score a goal for the Bruins on their new Austin Sports Complex field.  Entering the game against Pacific Lutheran on Oct. 31 with 18 minutes left, he took a short pass from Isaac Widdicombe just inside the right corner of the penalty box and hooked it 15 yards into the upper left corner of the net at the 87:29 mark in the second half.  Until that moment, the Bruins had been shut out in each of their home games this season, a total of eight games in a row without a ball finding the net.  The ecstatic Bruins mobbed their successful teammate as they finally got the “scoring monkey” off their backs.
