WILLIAM JESSUP 2, GEORGE FOX 1: Warriors Edge Bruins in Neutral-Site Game in OT
REDDING, Calif. - Despite out-shooting William Jessup University 24-4, the George Fox University Bruins could not take advantage of the huge shot deferential and fell in overtime to the Warriors 2-1 in a non-conference men’s soccer match that was played here at Simpson University’s soccer field.
The teams battled on scoreless terms for over 70 minutes before the Bruins finally broke through to take a 1-0 lead. Luke Hammer notched his third goal of the season at the 71:02 mark in the second half, with an assist by Sawyer Meek.
The Warriors knotted it eight minutes later, Uriel Moreno scoring an unassisted goal at 79:03. The score remained 1-1 into overtime, when Mitch Chilcott notched the game-winner off an assist from Matt Flanagan.
George Fox also held a decided advantage in corner kicks, 10-3. The Bruins had six shots on goal, with Warriors keeper Tim Rusher making five saves. William Jessup had only three shots on goal, scoring on two of them, with Bruins starting keeper Elliott Davis making the only save.
