Bruins-Boxers’ Showdown for Second in NWC Postponed to Sunday by Wet Courts

A Winning Tradition

  • One NWC Player of the Year (Spencer Watanabe, 2017-18)
  • Six Northwest Conference Tournament Appearances (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018)
  • Three All-Americans
  • 33 All-NWC Athletes

NEWBERG, Ore. – Control of second place in the Northwest Conference men’s tennis standings will have to wait a day as the match between the George Fox University Bruins and the Pacific University Boxers that was scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 17, has been postponed due to wet conditions on George Fox’s campus courts.

The match has been rescheduled for Sunday, Mar. 18, at 1:00 p.m.  If rainy weather persists, the Bruins have reserved indoor courts at the Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Wash., for 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, and the match will be held there.

George Fox is 6-6 overall and in third place in the conference at 5-2.  Pacific is 6-2 overall and second in the NWC at 6-1.  Both teams’ only conference losses have been to No. 8 nationally-ranked Whitman College.  As this is the only meeting of the season between the Bruins and the Boxers in the NWC’s round-robin-and-a-half schedule, the winner would hold the tiebreaker if there is a tie for second.
