NEWBERG, Ore. – When last the George Fox University Bruins appeared in the Northwest Conference Men’s Tennis Tournament, in 2005, their presence in the tournament was a forgone conclusion - back then, all nine teams in the conference got to play in the post-season tournament!

The times and the rules have changed, with only the top four teams making the tournament, and the Bruins will be making their first post-season appearance under the new system in the third year of a rebuilding effort by head coach Neal Ninteman when they meet the Pacific University Boxers this Saturday, Apr. 21, at 2:00 p.m. in Walla Walla, Wash.   The host Whitman College Missionaries and the Whitworth University Pirates will meet in the other semi-final earlier in the day at 10:00 a.m.  The two winners will advance to the NWC Tournament finals Sunday at 11:00 a.m., with the champion earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Weather permitting, all matches will be played at Whitman’s four outdoor courts.  In case of rain, the matches will be moved to the four indoor courts at the nearby Bratton Tennis Center.  For more information on the pairings and the tournament, and to follow via live stats, visit the Whitman men’s tennis website at http://www.whitman.edu/whitman/index.cfm?objectid=C1B18E35-E3C5-11CE-C08AD20D931868B3
