LEWIS & CLARK INVITATIONAL: Dillow Ties for NWC Pole Vault Lead in L&C Meet
PORTLAND, Ore. - Nate Dillow’s pole vault of 14-6
(4.42m) tied him for the Northwest Conference lead in that event,
highlighting the performances by a select group of George Fox
University Bruins who participated in the Lewis & Clark College
Invitational track and field meet Friday and Saturday here at the
Eldon Fix Track.
Dillow’s vault tied with two others for third in the event,
which was won by former Bruin Zeb Udell of Western Oregon
University with a 16-6.75 (5.05m). Dillow tied
with Gene Haberly of Linfield College for the best mark in the
conference entering the upcoming Northwest Conference Championships
this Friday and Saturday at Pacific University’s Lincoln Park
Stadium in Forest Grove, Ore.
Dillow also moved into fourth in the NWC in the men’s 400
meter hurdles with a time of 57.19, finishing fifth in the
meet. His twin brother David took seventh in the
100 meter hurdles with a 16.47. The only other
Bruin men’s mark that met NWC standards was Ryan Forbes in
the 200 meter dash in 23.35, placing 15th in the meet.
In women’s events, Irene Johnson placed fourth with a mark
of 15.77 in the 100 meter hurdles, but she is already fourth in the
NWC with a 15.28. Johnson also ran for the 4x100
meter relay team, along with Cindy Walsh, Melissa Leighty, and
Mollie Honan, running a 49.53 to finish second in the
meet. The relay team already has a mark of 49.34
this season that is second in the NWC.
Beth Stam moved into fifth in the NWC in the triple jump with a
leap of 34-2.25 (10.42m) while finishing seventh in the
meet. Marlee Zakrevsky moved into ninth in the
NWC in the discus with a throw of 100-2 (30.53m), and was 14th in
the meet. Hana Fisher set a personal best in the
hammer with a distance of 126-10 (38.66m), finishing seventh in the
meet and improving her sixth-place standing in the conference.
