MXC: WEST REGIONAL - Bruins Eberhart Earns All-Region Honors for Third Time
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Capping off a fine senior season, Cam Eberhart of George Fox University finished 25th in the NCAA Division III West Regional men's 8K cross country race held here Saturday on the campus of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, earning All-Region honors for the third time in his career.
Eberhart, the only Bruin to compete in either of the men's or women's regional races, posted a time of 26:45.43 in his final college event, the 12th-best mark among runners from the Northwest Conference. The top 35 finishers in the regional meets earn All-Region honors.
Eberhart finished first for the Bruins in all six races in which he participated this fall. He was an All-West Region performer with a 31st-place finish as a freshman in 2006 and a 26th-place finish as a sophomore in 2007.
Jackson Brainerd of Colorado College was the individual West Region men's champion with a time of 25:26.65, a mere 16/100ths of a second ahead of Eric Kleinsasser of Occidental University's 25:26.81.
Host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was the men's team champion with 50 points, followed by Willamette University with 64 points. A total of 16 men's teams received scores. In the women's 6K regional race, Whitworth University took the top spot among 17 teams with 47 points, well ahead of runner-up Whitman College's 108.
