Bruins-Bearcats DH Postponed a Second Time, Rescheduled for Friday
NEWBERG, Ore. – Rain and wet field conditions have once again forced a postponement of the Northwest Conference softball doubleheader between the George Fox University Bruins and the Willamette University Bearcats that was set for Wednesday, April 6, but will now be on Friday, April 8, at 2:00 p.m. – weather permitting.
The Bruins and Bearcats were originally scheduled for March 12-13, but when that was rained out, one doubleheader was re-scheduled for March 31 – those two games were played, with the teams splitting – and the second was set for April 6. The games are critical for the conference standings, as Willamette (13-12, NWC 10-7) is currently in third place but only half a game ahead of both Whitworth University and Pacific University, and only the top four teams make the NWC Tournament coming up April 22-23. George Fox (9-19, NWC 3-13) has a golden opportunity to play the role of “spoiler” against Willamette and also against Pacific, as the Bruins have two against the Boxers they must make up some time next week.
If the Bruins do play Friday, that will give them six games in three days, as they are also to host Pacific Lutheran University Saturday and the University of Puget Sound Sunday in twinbills at 12:00 noon each day.
