ALL-CONFERENCE: Chriss and Renteria Receive Honorable Mention All-NWC Honors

2011 All-Northwest Conference Softball Teams

NEWBERG, Ore. – Hard-hitting shortstop Bethany Chriss and speedy left fielder Nicole Renteria of George Fox University have received honorable mention for the 2011 All-Northwest Conference Softball Team for their outstanding seasons as voted on recently by the league’s eight coaches and announced by the conference office.

Chriss, a sophomore from Bend, Ore., led the Bruins with a .342 batting average, a .550 slugging percentage, and a .471 on base percentage.  She topped the team in runs (28), home runs (5), RBIs (25), total bases (61), walks (24), and stolen bases (15), and was second in hits (38) and third in doubles (6).  In conference statistics, she was fourth in walks and tied for sixth in steals.  Defensively, she led the NWC in assists (97), tied for fourth in double plays (8), and was 10th in fielding chances (180).  It was her second year in a row to receive honorable mention All-NWC accolades.

Renteria, a sophomore from Oceanside, Calif., was second on the team to Chriss with a .298 batting average and had the most hits (39) and at bats (131).  The left-swinging slap hitter was also second in doubles (7) and total bases (48), and third in runs (15), slugging pct. (.366), and stolen bases (8).  In NWC statistics, she tied for eighth in at bats. 

George Fox finished the 2011 season with a 12-28 overall record under third-year coach Jessica Hollen and came in seventh in the conference at 6-22. 

Emilee Lepp of conference champion Linfield College was named the 2011 NWC Player of the Year, Stacey Hagensen of runner-up Pacific Lutheran University was the Pitcher of the Year, and Jackson Vaughan of Linfield was the Coach of the Year.
