The George Fox softball team took the field Sunday with their sights set on completing the weekend sweep of Pacific Lutheran.
Both teams got into a groove at the plate but the Bruins who cashed in on their 12 hits.
The Lutes jumped on the board first, taking an early 1-0 lead after an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.
In the top of the second, Julie Apodaca's RBI singled tied the game up at 1-1, but the Lutes responded with another run in the bottom of the third inning to regain the lead.
The Bruins locked in over the final three innings and after getting two runs across in the fourth, Rebecca Pridmore's RBI double kicked off a four run fifth inning to give the Bruins a 7-2 lead.
Apodaca and the Bruins added four more in the top of the sixth inning and took game three of the series 11-2.
Sunday's game two and final game of the series was a concentrated defensive battle. Both pitchers threw complete games and the Bruins finished the game with zero errors.
The Lutes struck first with a run in the bottom of the second inning, but the Bruins tied it up in the top of the third on an RBI single by Allison Meyer.
In the top of the fifth inning, Roni Braun reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Alex Parker to score. The Bruins 2-1 lead didn't last long, as the Lutes picked up two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.
Despite the Bruins having runners on base in both the sixth and seventh innings, they weren't able to get the tying run across home plate and fell to the Lutes, 3-2.
Apodaca was a perfect 5 for 5 and led the Bruins with three RBI. Annie Veatch, Meyer and Pridmore each drove in runs and Madison Sorensen picked up her fifth win of the season.
Meyer went 3 for 4 with one RBI and Braun went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Bruins while Parker and Pridmore each scored.
