The Bruins come into the tournament with an overall record of 19-15 and a fourth-best 15-13 in conference. After graduating four crucial players last season, this year's junior class has stepped up to lead the team. Annie Veatch alongside pitchers Madison Sorensen and Abbie Bergerson have spurred the Bruins on their path to the NWC tournament.

Sorensen was an absolute beast in the 2017 season. She left her mark all over the Northwest Conference, finishing with the most strikeouts (88), while also coming in at second overall in ERA (1.94) and third in wins (12). Bergerson contributed as well with six wins and 39 strikeouts.

Veatch had a terrific year, leading the team in batting average (.377), hits (40), doubles (12), and RBIs (28). Moreover, Veatch leads the team in homeruns (6), good for fifth in the NWC.

"I look forward to heading to Spokane and facing tough competition," said head coach Jessica Hollen. "We've played each team tough, and I truly believe anyone could win this tournament. I'm excited to go see what we are made of!"

Meanwhile, for the opposition, the Pirates are led by Michelle Silva and Madi Perez. Silva leads the NWC in RBIs (42), while coming in at third in home runs (7) and fourth in stolen bases (16). Perez has the most wins (20) and the best ERA (1.63) in the conference while registering second in saves (3) and third in strikeouts (71).

The teams matched up in a four-game series at Linfield on March 28 and 30. George Fox lost four close games to the conference-best Pirates.

If the Bruins win the NWC they will earn an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Div. III Tournament, which will start May 13-15.
