Bruins’ Smith Named West Region Women’s Coach of Year, Forbes Assistant Coach of Year
NEWBERG, Ore. – Head coach John Smith of George Fox University has been named the 2012 NCAA Division III West Region Women’s Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, while Bruins’ staff member Michelle Forbes was named the USTFCCCA’s Assistant Women’s Coach of the Year. GFU FINAL QUALIFIER: Women's 4x400 Leads Bruins' Improved Marks in Final Meet
NEWBERG, Ore. – Hoping to improve their standing on the NCAA Division III women’s 4x400 meter relay list, the George Fox University Bruins posted a season’s best time of 3:54.62, lifting them into 47th on the chart but unlikely to get them into the National Championships, in the GFU Final Qualifier track and field meet Friday afternoon here at Colcord Field. Ojala Named BAA Athlete of the Week; 9 Bruins Ranked in 11 Events in National Top 50
NEWBERG, Ore. – With a third-place finish in the men’s high jump to two unattached athletes in the West Coast Invitational on May 12, George Fox University’s Kai Ojala has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Men’s Athlete of the Week for May 7-13, his first time to receive the honor during the 2012 track and field season. NEWBERG, Ore. – Bringing the 2012 outdoor track and field regular season to a close, George Fox University will host an “NCAA Final Qualifier” meet this Friday, May 18, at Colcord Memorial Field for athletes seeking one more chance to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships and unattached athletes who wish to compete.
