WBSK: Gordon Gets First BAA, NWC Basketball Honors of New Season

NEWBERG, Ore. - As the leading scorer in all three of the Bruins' season-opening wins, Keisha Gordon of George Fox University has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Women's Athlete of the Week and Northwest Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 16-22.

Gordon opened her week by scoring 22 points, 18 in the first half, in only 20 minutes of a 74-41 win at Corban on Nov. 17, hitting 7-13 field goals (4-6 threes) and 4-4 free throws, tying for the team high with nine rebounds, and collecting six steals and two assists.  In the home opener on Nov. 20, a 58-46 win over Concordia-Portland, she had 22 points on 8-14 field goals (6-11 threes) with four rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocked shots.  Playing only 21 minutes in an 82-64 win over Oregon Tech on Nov. 24, she scored 14 points on 5-8 field goals (2-3 threes) and 2-2 free throws, with a team-high eight rebounds, three steals, an assist and a blocked shot.  For the week, the sophomore guard from Vancouver, Wash., scored 58 points (19.3 ppg) on 20-35 field goals (.571), including 12-20 three-pointers (.600), and 6-6 free throws (1.000), with 21 rebounds (7.0 rpg), 13 steals (4.33 spg), 7 assists (2.33 apg), and 3 blocked shots (1.00 bspg). 

A Second Team All-Conference pick last year, Gordon has picked up where she left off by leading the league currently in free throw pct. (1.000), 3-pt field goals (4.33 fgpg), and steals (4.33), and ranking 2nd in scoring (19.3), 4th in field goal pct. (.571),  5th in 3-pt pct. (.600), 6th in blocked shots (1.00 bspg), 9th in rebounding (7.0), and 14th in assists (4.33).  Last year, she was BAA Athlete of the Week three times, NWC Student-Athlete of the Week twice, and honorable mention for NWC honors once.
