PEORIA, Ariz. --- The No. 1-ranked George Fox women's golf team hosted the George Fox Westbrook Invitational Saturday, as the Bruins are currently second out of six teams.

Recap:
The Bruins welcomed five Top 30 teams in the field on Day One, as No. 5 Texas Tyler currently leads the field with a team score of 299. The No. 1 Bruins are five strokes behind in second with a 304, while No. 29 Pomona Pitzer and No. 14 University of St. Thomas are tied for third with a score of 317. No. 8 Redlands is tied with No. 20 Trinity (Texas) at fifth with a team score of 318.

Sydney Maluenda led the Bruins in the first round with a 73 to finish tied for first with two players from Texas Tyler. Rachel Drgastin shot a 76 and is tied for fourth, while Kristin Elich cracked the Top 10 with a 77 to place tied for eighth. Madison Perry was the final scoring Bruin under 80 with a 78 to take T-14th. Iris Kawada shot an 80 to finish 21st. Janelle Decker competed as an individual for the Bruins, and is T-17th with a 79 on her scorecard.

What Comes Next:
The tough six field team will finish the George Fox Westbrook Invitational Sunday, March 19, with tee times in the morning.
