CANBY, Ore. --- The No. 2-ranked George Fox women's golf team played host to eight school Saturday in the opening round of the Culturame Classic held at Willamette Valley Country Club. The Bruins hold a 21 stroke advantage after 18-holes of play.

Recap:

The Bruins were stellar in the opening round of the Culturame Classic with a team score of 305. George Fox placed all five golfers in the Top 10 with four golfers in the Top 5. Whitman is in second with a 326 team score, while Whitworth holds firm at third with a 334 team score.

Janelle Decker and Kristin Elich not only led the Bruins, but the field of 44 golfers with a 3-over-par 75 on the day. Iris Kawada is behind her teammates in third with a 5-over-par 77, and Tianna Brown sits tied for fourth with a 6-over-par 78. Rachel Drgastin is currently tied for ninth with a 9-over-par 81.

The Bruins will look to close out the Culturame Classic Sunday, Oct. 8, with tee times going off in the afternoon.
