WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team was in full force Sunday afternoon, as the Bruins ran by the Blues in a 17-5 Northwest Conference victory.
It didn't take long for the Bruins to make their presence known on the Whitman Athletic Fields, finding the back of the net in the first 10 seconds of the game. Miranda Edwords was able to spring downfield and launch one in the net to give the Bruins the early 1-0 lead.
Whitman was able to cut into the deficit moments later with a goal, but Jess Hanson and Jenniffer Burke each netted two goals to give the Bruins a 6-1 advantage.
Pace of play slowed down a little after the Blues scored their second goal of the half, but the Bruins went into halftime with two late goals to take a 9-3 lead.
The scoring frenzy continued in the second half after the Bruins rattled off five straight goals to put the Blues out of reach. With the score standing at 14-4, the Bruins managed to net three more goals to finish with a 17-5 victory.
Edwords and Burke led the Bruins with four goals apiece. Both Hanson and Fanger finished with three goals, but Hanson also tallied two assists during her play. Mikaela Easterlin played 56 minutes to earn the win while also recording nine saves.
