A Winning Tradition
NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team hosted the Boxers of Pacific University Saturday night, as the Bruins clinched their spot as the Northwest Conference Champions with a 12-8 win.
The Bruins were quick to strike with three straight goals. Jess Hanson was the first Bruin to get on the board with a nice assist from Miranda Edwords. Lois Ray scored two minutes later off a nifty pass from Jennifer Burke. Edwords gave the Bruins the three goal advantage with 23 minutes left in the first half.
The Boxers answered back with a goal of their own, but the Bruins went into the half with an 8-1 lead.
The second half was tightly contested as the Boxers did their best to cut into the deficit. The Boxers managed to score seven second half goals, but the Bruins answered every time with goals of their own.
The Bruins closed out the game with the 12-8 win.
Edwords scored four goals and one assist to lead the Bruins, while Christine Doherty, Ray and Burke all tallied two apiece. Mikaela Easterlin played all 60 minutes, recording three saves.
