A Winning Tradition
NEWBERG, Ore. --- For the second time this season, the George Fox women's lacrosse team swept the Northwest Conference weekly awards, as Miranda Edwords and Mikaela Easterlin earned NWC Women's Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Week.
The Bruins went 2-0 over the week with a 19-2 win over Linfield and a 12-8 win over Pacific. The win over the Boxers clinched the Northwest Conference Championship for the Bruins. This marks the first time in program history the Bruins won the Northwest Conference Championship after sharing the title last year with Pacific.
Edwords, a senior from San Diego, California, led the Bruins' offense with 10 points on seven goals and three assists. She scored three goals against the 'Cats and four goals against the Boxers. She managed to record a shots on goal percentage of 90 percent with eight draw controls, three caused turnovers and picked up four ground balls. This marks her second honor this season for offensive student-athlete of the week.
Easterlin, a senior from Lake Oswego, Oregon, earned her third straight defensive student-athlete of the week honor. She was crucial in the two wins, as the goalkeeper grabbed four saves over the two games. This is her fourth honor on the season.
