A Winning Tradition
GRAND LAKE --- For the first time in the program's history, George Fox women's lacrosse senior Jess Hanson has been named on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) 2018 Division III All-Region Team as a first-team selection.
The IWLCA announced 256 student-athletes in Div. III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2018. The student-athletes named are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will celebrate the 2018 All-Americans during the Divisional All-American Announcement Shows, which will be launched online in mid-June.
Hanson becomes the first Bruin to grab a spot on the team and is now in the running for an All-American honor. She was one of two Northwest Conference athletes to earn a spot, as Whitman's Olivia Engle was a second-team selection. Hanson was the lone NWC athlete to earn first-team honors and the only NWC athlete to be named as an attacker.
Hanson, a senior attacker from El Dorado Hills, California, ended her three-year career for the Bruins as the all-time leader in career points with 178. She became the second Bruin to be named NWC Player of the Year and was a unanimous first-team All-NWC selection. She led the conference and the team in points (86), goals (51) and assists (35). She also finished the season 13th in the nation in points per game (6.69) and tied for 26th in the nation in points. Hanson also grabbed four NWC Student-Athlete of the Week awards during the 2018 season.
