Coming off a heart-breaking 2-1 overtime loss at home to Willamette in their last skirmish, the Bruins hope to rebound with a strong showing on their eastern Washington road swing this weekend. The Bruins will first visit the Whitworth Pirates on Saturday and then the Whitman Missionaries on Sunday, both starting at 12:00 noon. Each game will be part of a conference doubleheader, to be followed by men's games between the same opponents each day at 2:30 p.m. Whitworth is still very much in the running for the conference title, as they have 25 points to 27 for both Puget Sound and Linfield.

Kirsten Cardwell scored in the first half to move into a tie for fifth on the all-time goals list at George Fox with her 26th career score, but the Bearcats scored in the second half and overtime to rally past the Bruins. Cardwell scored her fourth goal of the season on a penalty kick following a Willamette foul against Melanie Gaither in the penalty box. Stephanie Skelly scored both Willamette goals, the first with 16 minutes left in regulation and the second four minutes into overtime. Alyssa Montero made seven saves for the Bruins.

* Cardwell Again Honorable Mention for NWC Offensive Honors
With her 26th career goal, tying her for fifth on the all-time George Fox goals list, Kirsten Cardwell received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 11-17, the second week in a row and third time this season for her to be so honored.
Cardwell scored her fourth goal of the season six-and-a-half minutes into the game on a penalty kick to the right corner following a Willamette foul against Melanie Gaither in the penalty box. She is now tied for fifth in Bruin history with Amber Stevens (2004-07). It was her only shot of the game. Earlier in the week, she had two shots, one on goal, in the Bruins' 1-1 double-overtime tie with Pacific on Oct. 13.
A senior forward from Springfield, Ore., Cardwell also ranks 6th in career points (62) and is tied for 12th in assists (10) at George Fox. A two-time honorable mention All-NWC performer and First Team All-NWC in 2008, she currently stands

Andy Hetherington (St. John's, U.K., '76) is 59-100-9 (.378) in his 9th season as the women's soccer coach at George Fox. He was 123-20-5 in 10 seasons as a high school coach in the Portland, Ore., area before taking the position at George Fox.
