MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team opened up their season against NCAA Division II Western Oregon, Thursday night, as the Bruins fell, 1-0.

The Bruins held the Wolves scoreless in the first half, as senior goalkeeper Morgan Bars looked to be in top form. The senior was steadfast keeping the Wolves at bay with seven saves on the 13 total shots put up by the Wolves.

It wasn't all defense for the Bruins either. They were extremely efficient in the first half, firing off three shots – with all three on frame.

Both teams went into the break tied at 0-0.

The Wolves were quick in the start of the second, though, as Taylor Higa received a well-placed ball from teammate Allison Sprecher for the lone goal of the game.

The Bruins continued to put the pressure on with four more shots in the second, but Wolves' goalkeeper Caitlyn Kastelic kept them out of the net.

Top Performers:
The team did well to hang with the Div. II school, recording all seven shots on goal. Hannah Harder and Savannah Moison led the Bruins with two shots – both on frame. Bars played the first 45 minutes for the Bruins recording seven saves, while Kelsey Kammerzell came in the second and recorded one save.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will head back home on Sunday, where they continue their tough non-conference schedule with another Div. II institution. The Bruins will face Humboldt State on Sunday, September 4 at 12:00 p.m. at Austin Sports Complex.
