NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team hosted the Boxers of Pacific (Ore.) Saturday in a windy conference match-up that ended in a 2-0 defeat.
It was the Boxers who struck first in this opening minutes with a header goal in the 14th minute of play. The Bruins looked to strike back with three shots in the ensuing 15 minutes, but were unable to find the back of the net as the first half rolled on. The teams continued to exchange shots before Pacific (Ore.) was again able to score again in the 38th minute.
Freshman midfielder Stephanie Wilson had a chance to narrow the deficit in the 42nd minute, but the shot was blocked by the Boxer defense and the Bruins entered halftime down by a margin of 2-0.
The Bruins came out of the half aggressive, as midfielder Kayla Caldeira had a shot that hit the keeper in the hands a mere 31 seconds into the half. The home team continued the offensive onslaught as they out-shot the Boxers 7-2 in the second half and 12-9 in the game, but neither team was able earn a goal as the game drew to a close.
Bruin forward Hannah Harder had a chance to score in the 89th minute, but the opposing keeper managed to make the save and let the time run out.
Senior forward Hannah Harder led the Bruin offense today with a whopping five shots against the opposing defense.

The Bruins travel to Washington next Saturday, Oct. 22 to take on Puget Sound at 12p.m.
