NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team hosted the Linfield Wildcats in a tightly-contested conference matchup Saturday that ended in a double overtime draw, 1-1.

Recap:

The Bruins struggled to get their offense going in the first half but the defense shined, holding the Wildcats scoreless through the opening 45 minutes.

The second half opened with an early Linfield goal.

The Bruins responded with a series of crisp offensive sets that led to four quick shots against the Wildcat defense.

Finally, in the 70th minute, the Bruins managed to find the back of the net. Kacie Morgan had the ball in the box and sent a beautiful pass to a cutting Chloe Shumaker who kicked the ball straight past the keeper, 1-0. The goal was her third of the season.

The Bruins outshot 9-6 in the second half of play.

With a chance to take the win in the second period of overtime, the Bruins played some stellar offense as the time was running out.

A header by Morgan was saved by the keeper, then a shot by Emma Logan was blocked, then a shot by Shumaker was saved and finally a shot by Emma Laurion was saved as the Bruins narrowly missed a win.

Top Performers:
