BEAVERTON, Ore. --- It was a dominant start for the George Fox women's tennis team Saturday, as the Bruins beat the Bearcats of Willamette, 9-0.
The Bruins got off to a strong start in the match, taking down all three doubles. Sarah Tuemmler and Ellen Pearson fought hard at No. 1 doubles, and pulled away with an 8-5 victory. Catrina Kwong and Kristen Mock were excellent at No. 2 doubles with an 8-1 win, and Andrea Motley and Lydia Pia posted a clean sheet with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.
With the 3-0 advantage heading into singles, the Bruins kept their foot on the gas. The Bruins posted straight set victories in all six single matches, and Kwong posted a clean sheet of 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.
"The women played great today," said head coach Rick Cruz. "It was a total team effort and we had solid play all around. Excited to see what we can do tomorrow."
What It Means:
With the win, the Bruins improve to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Northwest Conference. The last time the Bruins started 2-0 in the NWC was back in the 2013-14 season.

The Bruins will have a test tomorrow, as they host the Pioneers of Lewis & Clark College at 11a.m.
