Bruins Come Away With 6-3 Win Over Boxers

FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- The George Fox women's tennis team came away with a big win over the Boxers of Pacific University Sunday, as the Bruins won the match, 6-3.

It was a thrilling match from start to finish, as the Bruins and Boxers put on a show at Holce Tennis Courts. The Bruins came away with a 2-1 lead in doubles after Kristen Mock and Catrina Kwong won at No. 2 singles, 8-4. Taylor Barnes and Ellen Pearson put up a great fight at No. 3 doubles, taking the match in extras at 9-7.

The Boxers were able to get a point back at No. 2 singles, but Mock and Tuemmler answered right back with points of their own. Mock was perfect at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Tuemmler continued her strong performance at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kaitlyn Lomartire. Tuemmler is now 8-2 in the NWC at the No. 1 spot.

Barnes and Motley secured the match at No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Barnes won with a 6-1, 6-2 score, while Motley won at 6-2, 6-3.

What It Means:
The Bruins are 11-7 on the season and 7-3 in the NWC. The Bruins are fourth in the NWC.

The Bruins host Linfield Tuesday, April 11, with the match set for 3:30p.m.
