Bruins Drop Match To Pirates

A Winning Tradition

SPOKANE --- The George Fox women's tennis team finished off the Washington road trip with a Northwest Conference match against the Pirates, falling 7-2.


The Bruins lone win in doubles came at the No. 2 spot from Jillian Studer and Lydia Pia. The pair took down Avery Liening and Marissa Kirk in a thrilling back and forth match. Studer and Pia came away with a 9-8 (7-5).

Catrina Kwong had a gutsy match at No. 1 singles to give the Bruins their final point of the match. Kwong dropped the first set 1-6, but rallied back to take the next two, 6-1, 6-1. Studer had a close match at No. 2 singles, but narrowly fell, 6-0, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2. Laney Search was the other Bruin to have a three-set match at No. 5 singles.

What It Means:

The Bruins fall to 3-5 and 1-3 in the NWC.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will have a string of nonconference matches with the first coming against Illinois State Thursday, March 15.
