VB: ALL-REGION - Bruins’ Pledger Receives AVCA All-West Region Honorable Mention
NEWBERG, Ore. - Capping off an outstanding first season with the George Fox University Bruins, middle blocker Eliza Pledger has received honorable mention for the NCAA Division III All-West Region women’s volleyball team as selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

VB: ALL-NWC - Three Members of Much-Improved Bruins Earn All-Conference Honors
NEWBERG, Ore. - Three members of the 2009 George Fox University women’s volleyball team which posted in its best record in seven years - Eliza Pledger and Lyndsay Hovee on the Second Team and Kaitlyn Maddams as an honorable mention - have received All-Northwest Conference honors as voted on by the league’s nine coaches.

VB: WILLAMETTE 3, GEORGE FOX 0 - Bruins’ Best Year Since ’02 Ends in Loss to Bearcats
SALEM, Ore. - Although they were swept in their Northwest Conference women’s volleyball season finale by the Willamette University Bearcats 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-18) Saturday night here at Cone Fieldhouse, the George Fox University Bruins’ final overall record of 17-7 made 2009 their best year since going 20-6 in 2002.

VB: PUGET SOUND 3, GEORGE FOX 1 - Loggers Outblock Bruins to Break Tie for 2nd
NEWBERG, Ore. - In a battle between two of the top blocking teams in the nation, the University of Puget Sound Loggers won a showdown for second place in the Northwest Conference women’s volleyball chase with a 3-1 win (27-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22) over the George Fox University Bruins Friday night here at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Recovering nicely from their worst offensive night of the season on Friday, the George Fox University Bruins hit .205 and used 14 blocks to knock off the Whitman College Missionaries 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 26-24, 25-13) in a Northwest Conference women’s volleyball match Saturday night here in the Sherwood Center.

VB: WHITWORTH 3, GEORGE FOX 0 - Pirates Pay Back Bruins with Return Sweep
SPOKANE, Wash. - After being swept in three straight sets by George Fox University back on Sept. 26 in Newberg, Ore., the Whitworth University Pirates returned the favor Friday night here at the Whitworth Fieldhouse, handing the Bruins a 3-0 setback (25-20, 26-24, 25-17) in a Northwest Conference women’s volleyball match.

NEWBERG, Ore. - Although they became the first team to win a set from Pacific Lutheran University in Northwest Conference play this season, the George Fox University Bruins could not complete the upset and dropped a 3-1 decision (17-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-17) to the 16th-ranked Lutes Saturday night here at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.

TACOMA, Wash. - Four George Fox University hitters, set up by Ali Toedtemeier’s career-high 41 assists, posted double-figure kills to lead the Bruins past the 22nd-ranked University of Puget Sound Loggers 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-15, 25-16) for their eighth straight win in Northwest Conference volleyball Saturday night here at Memorial Fieldhouse.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Veteran mentor Steve Grant picked up his milestone 550th coaching win as the George Fox University Bruins bounced back from Pacific University’s best-hitting game of the season in the first set for a 3-1 victory over the Boxers in Northwest Conference volleyball action Saturday night here at the Pacific Athletic Center.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Losing only one set all day, the George Fox University Bruins completed the Cal-Lu-fornia Invitational Women’s Volleyball Tournament as one of two unbeaten teams in the 14-team tournament by defeating the Dominican University Stars from Illinois 3-0 and the Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens 3-1 Saturday afternoon here at California Lutheran University’s Gilbert Arena.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Battling from behind twice in the first match and getting ahead early before hanging on at the end in the second, the George Fox University Bruins defeated both Chapman University and the University of Redlands 3-2 in five-set matches in the Cal-Lu-fornia Invitational Women’s Volleyball Tournament that began here Friday at California Lutheran University’s Gilbert Center.
