Hovee Earns BAA, NWC Volleyball Player of the Week Honors for Sept. 28-Oct. 4

NEWBERG, Ore. - With double-figure games in kills and digs during two Bruin wins, Lyndsay Hovee has earned Bruin Athletic Association Women's Athlete of the Week and Northwest Conference Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 28-Oct. 4. In a 3-0 win at Linfield on Oct. 2, the senior outside hitter from Belfair, Wash., had 10 kills and no errors in 20 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, with 10 digs, two assists, two service aces, and one block assist. In a 3-1 win at Pacific on Oct. 3, she had 12 kills and five errors in 35 attempts for a .200 percentage, with 15 digs, two aces, and a block assist. For the week, she had 22 kills (3.14 kpg) and five erros in 55 attacks (.309), 25 digs (3.57 dpg), two assists, four aces, and two block assists as the Bruins stretched their winning streak to six in a row.
Hovee ranks fifth in the conference in digs (3.95) and sixth in kills (2.92 kpg). She is the second volleyball player to be receive both BAA and NWC honors this season, joining Eliza Pledger (Sept. 7-13).
The Athlete of the Week Award for both men and women is presented throughout the Bruin sports seasons by the Bruin Athletic Association, whose mission is to provide George Fox student-athletes with an outstanding athletic and academic experience and to strengthen the overall competitiveness of the Bruin athletics program.
