Bruins Set to Host George Fox Invitational Races Saturday at Fernhill Park in Portland
NEWBERG, Ore. – Cross country runners from several four-year colleges, community colleges and club teams, as well as unattached racers, will converge on Fernhill Park in northeast Portland, Ore., this Saturday, Oct. 13, for the George Fox University Invitational meet, according to Bruin head coach Randy Dalzell.
The men’s 8K race will open the day’s events at 10:00 a.m., followed by the women’s 5K race at 10:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 11:00 a.m. to the top 20 finishers in each race, along with a team award to the winning team in each race. There will also be several races in the afternoon for high school teams.
Among the teams participating in the college races will be the host George Fox Bruins, the College of Idaho, Carroll College (Mont.), the Oregon Institute of Technology, Lane Community College, Treasure Valley Community College, and the Spirit of Oregon Club team.
Admission to all of the races is free. Fernhill Park is located between NE 37th and 42nd Avenues on the west and east sides, and by Holman and Killingsworth Streets on the north and south sides.

Bruins in Regional Rankings: In the latest NCAA Division III regional rankings from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the George Fox men’s team slipped one spot from 8th to 9th in the West Region. The Bruins had no events during the past week.
George Fox is ranked fourth among Northwest Conference teams in the West,with Willamette University, the University of Puget Sound, and Whitworth University running 3-4-5. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges holds the top spot in the West.
