NEWBERG, Ore. --- A total of 88 George Fox University student-athletes have been named as Northwest Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2014-15 academic year, as announced recently by the conference office.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher at the end of the academic year, and must have participated throughout the entire varsity season.
12 of the Bruins who were recognized for their classroom achievements also earned First, Second or Honorable Mention in All-NWC honors during their respective sports season. Included in that group were Justine Benner (First Team women’s basketball), Alexa Nakashimada (First Team women’s lacrosse), Ally Swanson (Second Team women’s soccer) and Sarah Tuemmler (Second Team women’s tennis).
The Northwest Conference, affiliated with the NCAA Division III, offers championships in football, volleyball, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s cross country, soccer, basketball, women’s lacrosse, swimming, golf, tennis and outdoor track and field.
