REDLANDS -- The George Fox football team opens the 2018 season against the University of Redlands Saturday, Sept. 1, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

This marks the fourth straight season the Bruins and Bulldogs will play one another. The Bruins currently lead the series 2-1, with wins in the 2015 and 2017 seasons. Both teams enter the season receiving votes in the preseason top-25 rankings.

Last fall, the Bruins hosted the then-ranked No. 21 Bulldogs in their home opener and recorded a 13-10 upset.

George Fox returns a strong core of players from last season. The Bruins' defense has a plethora of players to lean on, including preseason All-Americans Charles Riga and Caleb Dalzell. The duo combined for 23 tackles the last time these teams met. Jason Santoni was a big factor in the Bruins' win last season as well, as the junior kicker nailed a 48-yard field goal for the game winner.

The Bulldogs are led by senior quarterback Levi Plante, who threw for 1,509 yards and rushed for 610 yards in 2017. Conner Kennedy is also back for the Bulldogs and will assume the starting role as the lead back. With a majority of their upperclassmen back on defense as well, Redlands will prove to be a formidable opponent for George Fox.

This marks the first game of the season for both teams. Redlands is providing video and a live stats link that can be found here.
