Bruins In The Hunt After Day One of NWC Spring Classic

WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- The George Fox men's golf team posted their second lowest round on the season Saturday, as the Bruins shot a team score of 296 to hold firm at fourth in the Northwest Conference Spring Classic.  

It was an all-around team effort today on the course for the Bruins, as all four scoring cards were in the Top 20. Zach Mode led the Bruins with an even par 72 to take T-6th, while Caleb An wasn't far behind with a one over 73 to be in ninth by himself. Alex Plusquellec shot a 75 to place T-14th and Brandon Sutton completed the scoring with a 76 to take T-17th. Mason Mueller shot an 89 and is 44th.

Willamette leads the nine team tournament with an even par team score of 288. Whitworth is in second with a 291 and Pacific Lutheran just holds the advantage over the Bruins with a 292 in third.

Austin Billeter of Whitworth leads the 45 players with a four under 68 on the day.

"Conditions were great out on the course today," said head coach Branden Thompson. "Our guys played well and put us in a spot to compete tomorrow."

The Bruins will look to climb the leaderboard on Sunday with tee times in the morning.
