Bruins In Solid Position After First Round of NWC Spring Classic

BREMERTON, Wash. --- The George Fox men's golf team kicked off the Northwest Conference Spring Classic at the Gold Mountain Golf Club, as the Bruins are in a comfortable place after the first round. The Bruins are currently fifth out of the nine teams in the field.

The Bruins fired off a team score of 308 to sit 11 strokes out of first place. Pacific Lutheran leads the field with a team score of 297, while Willamette is in second with a 298. Linfield is third at 305, and Puget Sound is fourth with a one stroke advantage over the Bruins at 307.

Junior Alex Plusquellec led the way for the Bruins, shooting a 73 to sit tied for third. Mason Koch was right behind him with a 74 to place tied for sixth. Clayton Rajewich is T-14th and was the final Bruin to finish under 80 with a 77. Mason Mueller was the final scoring Bruin with an 84 to take 34th. Caleb Fernandez completed the Bruins' lineup with an 87 and is T-40th.

Trent Jones fired off the only round in the 60s with a 67 to hold a five stroke lead over the field of 45 golfers.

The Bruins will look to climb the leaderboard Sunday, as they are only a couple strokes out of a podium finish.

The first tee time for the Bruins is set for 8:30a.m. as they look to make a move on the leaderboard Sunday.
