Bruins In Fourth After Day One Of NWC Fall Classic

BANKS, Ore. --- The George Fox men's golf team started its quest to the top at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic Saturday, as the Bruins sit in fourth of nine teams.  


Action took place on the par-71 Quail Valley Golf Course with 45 golfers competing for a chance at the top spot.

The Bruins finished the first round with the fourth best score in the program's history with a 7-over-par 291. The Bruins recently broke the program record earlier in the season at the CA State Intercollegiate with a second round 2-over-par 290 on a par-72 course.

Willamette leads the field of nine teams with a 2-under-par 282, while Whitworth is in second with a 4-over-par 288. Pacific Lutheran edged the Bruins by one stroke with a 6-over-par 290. The Bruins hold firm at fourth, with three golfers inside the Top 15.

Clayton Rajewich and Mason Koch led the way for George Fox, as the pair finished with an even-par 71. Alex Plusquellec is currently T-13th with a 2-over-par 73. Joshua Lackey is T-21st with a 5-over-par 76 and Mason Mueller rounded out the lineup with a 7-over-par 78 to place T-32nd.

Trent Jones of Willamette currently leads the field with a 5-under-par 66.

The Bruins will look to move up the leaderboard Sunday, Oct. 15, as action resumes in the morning.
